Supported “Food Angel” Once Again Lukfook Volunteer Team Shared Love with the Needy

(12 September 2014) ------ Luk Fook Holdings (International) Limited (“Lukfook” / the “Group”) (Stock Code: 00590) has made continuous contribution to the community. Over the years, the Group has actively supported a variety of charity and community programmes, and always encourages employees to serve the community. This year, the Group donated rice to the local charity “Food Angel” once again. Lukfook Volunteer Team also visited the kitchen of “Food Angel” and helped preparing and distributing meal boxes to the needy to support its food rescue and assistance programme.

Mr. Wong Wai Sheung, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Group said, “The Group is committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility and helping those in need. According to the research done by “Food Angel”, it is estimated that over 1.3 million people are living under the poverty line in Hong Kong. On average, 1 in 3 HK elderly could barely make a living, and many of them are struggling to meet basic nutritional needs. This year, the Group joined hands again with “Food Angel” to show love and care to the needy. Apart from donating rice, our Lukfook Volunteer Team also helped preparing meal boxes, and visited and delivered meal boxes to HKLSS Harmony Garden Lutheran Centre for the Elderly. We hope that we could help promote a caring community for the elderly.”

“Food Angel” is a food rescue and assistance programme launched in 2011 by Bo Charity Foundation. The programme encourages collection of surplus food from restaurants and corporates. The food will then be turned into delicious and nutritious meal boxes in its central kitchen and be distributed to the needy, to reduce food waste and alleviate hunger in Hong Kong.
